The New Inn, in the heart of the village, has a wedding licence, so you can be married in the oak beamed Hamlyn Room and enjoy your reception there in a heart-warming village atmosphere. On the other hand, what could be more romantic than to lead your guests down the cobbled street to the ancient harbour. The Red Lion, right on the quayside, is also licensed for wedding ceremonies and is a perfect venue for a larger wedding breakfast. The New Inn can cater for a seated reception of up to 26 guests while the Red Lion Hotel can host a wedding breakfast of around 50/60. The two hotels offer 19 en-suite bedrooms and there are other accommodation options in the village.

For a wedding party of up to 150 guests, we offer marquee space on the Great Terrace of Clovelly Court, ancestral home of the owners of Clovelly. From such a vantage point, the panoramic vista of Bideford Bay and beyond is simply breathtaking. The Terrace is a very short, tree-lined walk from Clovelly Village’s old church of “All Saints”.

Indeed Clovelly offers you such an intriguing palette from which to paint your perfect wedding scene, that most brides-to-be find a visit very helpful to their planning. We also plan to license an outdoor venue, the Wilderness Summerhouse, to the west of Clovelly. It is a beautifully restored building with much use made of local materials and could not be set in a more romantic location with its view from the cliff top down to the Atlantic cove of Mouth Mill.

It can be reached by Land Rover and then on foot up a path.

"We are sure you have seen the beautiful photos of our wedding - all 801 are truly wonderful and capture both the magic of the day and the stunning location of Clovelly. The photographers took a lot more photos than normal, surely due to the fact that Clovelly offers such a beautiful backdrop.

When we first chose Clovelly as our wedding venue we knew it made the perfect choice. However the beauty of the venue is not the only reason we chose Clovelly. From the first, all the staff had a friendly and personal approach, making us feel that our wedding was individual and special.

We were made to feel that our wedding was as unique and exciting as it was for us. From the smallest requests to the big decisions, we always received a response from everyone at Clovelly along the lines of 'no problem' or 'we can sort it'.

Our guests had a wonderful weekend in Clovelly and every single guest, without exception, commented on the stunning location and perfect choice of venue.

For some it was their first visit to Clovelly, but for most it will not be their last. Our thanks to all the staff at the New Inn and the Red Lion for striving to make our day perfect. In particular please extend our thank to the girls behind the bar in the Red Lion. They were absolutely brilliant, so many guests commented on how great they were. Not only did they keep the bar open later for us, but they really joined in the fun and went beyond the call of duty.

Compliments also to both Chefs and the waiting staff. We had so many comments on how wonderful the food was. 'Amazing starter' -'The beef was perfect' - 'Never eaten such great food at a wedding' - 'Normally at weddings you leave hungry, but I was so full I couldn't even finish the dessert, and it was delicious!' Just a few of the many wonderful compliments.

Although our budget was small by comparison, there was nothing cheap about our wedding. (One of our German speaking guests overheard some German tourists wondering whether we were important people or someone famous!!).

Our wedding was always going to be special for us, no matter what, but we never imagined it could be quite so perfect. This is in no small part down to the magical atmosphere created by Clovelly and all its wonderful staff and residents." Mr. and Mrs. L.
